Cinder block walls

Hello I have drywall questions, we are remodeling our 1949 home the basement outer walls and middle support wall are all cinder blocks. I would like to put up drywall to make the rooms look finished and clean but I am being told that the walls will sweat and ruin the drywall, is there any way I can put up dry wall on the walls? There has been issues in the past with water getting in the basement but I truly believe the water is coming from the roof as it needs a lot of work also, on the north outer wall we plan to put some sort of water proofing and run a drainage system.
