Drywall Joints and Electrical Boxes
by Ed H
I'm drywalling a ceiling that (unfortunately) is 12' -1" wide and has electrical boxes for light fixtures right on the centerline of the ceiling. I obviously don't want to end up with a 1" wide strip down one side of the room, but if I start out with a 2' wide piece on one side, one long joint ends up going right thru the electrical boxes. Is there anything wrong with having a drywall joint running thru the electrical boxes, or do the drywall sheets somehow need to be positioned (for better strength) such that a joint doesn't end up going thru the electrical boxes? Or does it matter?
